E-Verify record disposal deadline approaching

October 21, 2025

E-Verify employers that want to retain information about cases that are more than 10 years old have until January 4, 2026, to download the records. On January 5, 2026, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will dispose of E-Verify records for cases last updated on or before December 31, 2015. Sky Transport Solutions helps employers understand this deadline and take the necessary steps to preserve their E-Verify records.

Important Deadline

Download Deadline: January 4, 2026

Disposal Date: January 5, 2026

Affected Records: E-Verify cases last updated on or before December 31, 2015

Downloading Historical Records

A company's E-Verify program administrator or corporate administrator may download and save the Historical Records Report to retain information about these cases. The report includes company information, case identifiers, and case resolution information. It doesn't include employee Social Security numbers or document numbers.

Historical Records Report Includes:

  • Company information
  • Case identifiers
  • Case resolution information

Note: The report does not include employee Social Security numbers or document numbers.

Case Number Requirement

Employers need to record the E-Verify case verification number on each corresponding Form I-9 if they haven't already done so. They also have the option of attaching a copy of the case details page to the Form I-9.

Form I-9 Requirements

  • Record the E-Verify case verification number on each corresponding Form I-9
  • Optionally attach a copy of the case details page to the Form I-9
  • Keep the Historical Records Report with the corresponding Forms I-9

Annual Event

Each year, the USCIS disposes of E-Verify employer records that are more than 10 years old. This is done to reduce security and privacy risks associated with the U.S. government retaining personally identifiable information and is required under the National Archives and Records Administration records retention and disposal schedule.
